  • Donna Barks

    Donna came to Tunbridge Wells Care Centre in early 2022 as a manager fresh from another home near Maidstone, where she was deputy manager before progressing to home manager in 2020. She is an experienced carer and nurse who spent three years working on the acute surgical ward at Tunbridge Wells Hospital, as well as in community hospitals and several care homes in Kent and Devon where she oversaw the care of people with advanced dementia. In 2022 Donna won the Women Achieving Greatness in Social Care Awards’ Rising Star trophy in recognition of her exceptional service. Donna loves Tunbridge Wells and is delighted to be managing the home, which is so close to the centre of town.

    Don began his career in care after leaving corporate life in London, starting as a domiciliary carer before transitioning to a care home in Gravesend. There, he led the complex behaviour unit and managed the night team as Clinical Support. His dedication to dementia care earned him finalist recognition at the National Care Awards and the Great British Care Awards in 2023.

    In early 2025, Don became the Deputy Manager at Tunbridge Wells Care Centre, where he works alongside Home Manager Donna Barks and department heads to oversee daily operations and support staff in providing high-quality, person-centred care.

    Sara joined TWCC as an Admin Assistant in May 2025. Her diverse background includes establishing a Young Carers Project, working in student support, adult disability services, and immigration law. Married with three grown-up children, Sara enjoys spending her spare time doing pottery and walking her cocker spaniel.

    Laura began her nursing career in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic, working on a respiratory ward in Tunbridge Wells, a role she found deeply rewarding. She has a lifelong connection with care homes, having started at age 15 serving tea and coffee in a nursing home near her nan’s home in Maidstone.

    Throughout her career, Laura has gained valuable experience in community nursing but has primarily focused on nursing home care. Outside of work, she is a proud mother of four sons, grandmother to two grandchildren, and the owner of a lively working cocker spaniel.

    Petre is a dedicated RGN Team Leader with nearly ten years of experience in nursing and adult social care. Known for a patient-focused approach, strong communication skills, and genuine compassion, Petre plays a vital role in supporting residents and colleagues alike.

    In their current role, Petre leads the clinical team, maintains high standards of care, promotes best practice, and professional growth among staff. Their commitment to excellence earned national recognition as a Finalist at the British National Care Awards in 2022.

    Holding an NVQ Level 5 in Management and Team Leading, Petre continues to pursue professional development. Outside of work, they enjoy movies, sports, history, geography, technology, and gaming.

    Alex, winner of the 2024 Social Care Nurse Award, is an exceptional and highly skilled nurse known for her leadership, compassion, and meticulous approach to care. She mentors colleagues, supports professional growth, and ensures care plans are accurate and person-centred.

    Her calm manner, strong communication skills, and decisive actions inspire confidence in residents, families, and staff alike. Passionate about end-of-life care, Alex regularly works shifts at the local hospice, sharing her knowledge and strengthening the care home’s partnership with it.

    Laxmi began her nursing career in 1985 and moved to England in 2000, where she has since worked in a variety of care homes. A proud recipient of the Best Carer Award, she joined our team six months ago and continues to bring compassion, experience, and dedication to her role.

    Irina has been part of the TWCC team for over four years and continues to find great joy in both her role and the time she spends with residents. She began her journey as a carer, a role she held for three years before transitioning to the activities team. Irina is married and has a three-year-old daughter who loves visiting the care centre—especially to see the ducks.

With a background in kitchen work and a genuine passion for resident care, Tina brings compassion, enthusiasm, and excellence to everything she does. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her beloved cats and dogs.
